Villa Mangiacane, Florence, Italy

Jasmine scented paradise on a hill outside Florence.

{the drive is lined with lavender and jasmine}

 {dining in the walled herb garden}

{the view from our room}

Villa Mangiacane was originally commissioned by Cardinal Francesco Maria Machiavelli, uncle of Niccolò Machiavelli. But political intrigue is the farthest thing from your mind when you are by the pool on a beautiful summer day.

Zermatt, Switzerland

With the first frost today thoughts turn to winter...

  And winter means skiing. And skiing means Zermatt.

Lords of the Manor, Upper Slaughter, England

A beautiful hotel in one of the most beautiful villages in England.

{afternoon tea taken on the lawn}

On a gorgeous summer day we hired bicycles and rode around the glorious Cotswolds countryside. Stopping only for afternoon tea. Heaven.

Gliffaes Country House Hotel, Crickhowell, Wales

{fishing is optional}

{the view from the bed in room 3}

{and in the afternoon a Pimms on the terrace}

Wales is my favourite part of the United Kingdom and Gliffaes is one of my favourite places in Wales. Situated in a tranquil Welsh valley with only the sound of the river and distant sheep it is hard not to be relaxed there. Beautiful.

The photography and styling in the Toast catalogue is always so beautiful.

Schweizerhof, Flims, Switzerland

{the view from our balcony}

Arriving on the Post Bus for a weekend skiing trip I glimpsed this fairytale hotel through the trees. When I realised that it was indeed where we were staying I knew it was going to be a good weekend.

Rich in tradition, the Schweizerhof was built in 1903 in the Belle Époque and Art Nouveau styles and is currently managed by the 4th generation of the same family. The likes of Albert Einstein, the Empress Zita and Marie Curie chose to spend their summers here. The beautiful  Belle Époque features are now combined with 21st century comforts - a wonderful wellness centre, lovely bathrooms.

The sort of hotel that surpasses expectation in every way.
